The skills gap is an issue that has loomed over the manufacturing industry for many years now. Because of this, Duval Precision Grinding has been very active in seeking educational opportunities and alternate training paths for our staff. We also participate in outreach programs with local institutions where we can connect with students who are interested in STEM careers.
Some machining experience is recommended however, we have also had exemplary success with employees who had no machining experience and demonstrated a keen mechanical aptitude.
On the Job Training
& Continued Education
We tell all of our employees that the sky is the limit when it comes to developing their skills. We are able to provide new grinders with extensive on-the-job-training (OJT) opportunities and we encourage everyone on our staff to diversify their capabilities. Our most highly valued employees are also the most cross-functional. Duval is always willing to invest in developing its workforce. We frequently send employees to various training courses such as Blueprint Reading, Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing, Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), Job Methods, Shop Math, and more to further improve their current skill level.
